ZanPay UPG
The UPG will provide Mobile Money Acceptance by integrating directly with TIPS national switch. The settlement will be handled mainly by the national switch itself.
The UPG will provide USSD-based payment acceptance by integrating directly with MNO gateways or through centralized telecom aggregators.
Functional Capabilities
Zanpay
UPG will integrate with ZanMalipo APIs to fetch or validate control numbers for government services.
UPG will ensure multi-channel payment acceptance (card, mobile money,
USSD) against the same control number.
Control Number Generation & Validation
Upon successful payment via POS, eCommerce, or mobile money UPG will
post the transaction to ZanMalipo in real-time.
ZanMalipo updates revenue head, department, and service specific mappings
for MDA reporting.
Real-Time Payment Posting
Payments to control numbers can be initiated through:
1. Mobile money channels (MPESA, Airtel Money, TigoPesa)
2. Card-present (POS) and card-not-present (online) channels
3. USSD for fee payments in low-connectivity environments
